Paul set up Paul Doran Law in 2013 with just himself and his wife, Carmen. Since then, the firm has grown to include four full-time lawyers, a dedicated client support team and a raft of paralegal assistants.
Based in Paul’s native Belfast with offices in Gateshead, Leeds and London, we take on cases from all over the UK. As part of Paul’s vision, we work solely for employees encountering any work-related problems covered by UK law, including discrimination, unfair dismissal and unequal pay. Paul continues to specialise in equal pay cases.

Background
Before founding his own firm, Paul worked for Stefan Cross Solicitors as Head of Employment Law – at the time, they were known as the leading equal pay firm in the country.
He represented thousands of female council employees in an equal pay claim against Birmingham City Council after it was discovered female workers did not have access to the same bonuses as their male counterparts. The landmark ruling led to further cases being bought against other local authorities across the UK. At last count, compensation payments nudged £1 billion.
Paul has gone on to successfully represent a number of high-profile cases against local authorities where employees where being paid less than their counterparts, both male and female. This included an equal pay case against Reading City Council which took 14 years to resolve. At the end of it, claimants were able to receive ‘life-changing’ sums of money.
Qualifications
In 2011, Paul got a Masters’ degree in Employment Law at De Monfort University, Leicester where he achieved a distinction and was awarded a prize for the highest mark of the year. He completed his Legal Practice course at Northumbria University in 2006 after graduating from the University of Ulster with a degree in law in 1999.
Outside work
Paul spends almost every weekend on the football pitch as he takes two pre-teen children to their team matches and has recently been helping out on the coaching side of things. When he can, he catches up on reading, where he enjoys delving into history, politics and fiction.
